Radiological and Diagnostic Imaging Society of São Paulo (SPR) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to scientific development of the medical imaging in the state and national levels. The organization was founded in 1968 and it currently has 2400 members working in all areas of radiology: ultrasound, computed tomography, MRI, nuclear medicine and radiotherapy.
SPR seeks international alliance in order to develop and enhance the contact between Brazilian radiologists and professionals from various regions of the world. The scientific meetings are an important part of this work.
In 2009, SPR promoted the I France-Latin American Congress of Radiology. It was the first step to expand the JPR in the international circuit of radiology. We had the support of the French Society of Radiology (SFR) and the Inter-American College of Radiology (CIR).
In the following year, SPR worked with the Italian Society of Medical Radiology (SIRM) and the result was the I Brazil-Italy Congress of Radiology’2010.
In 2011 SPR promoted the I Brazil-Chile Congress of Radiology with the support of the Chile Society of Radiology (SOCHRADI).
Next year, 2012, SPR organized with the International Society of Radiology (ISR) the 27º International Congress of Radiology (ICR’ 2012). The event had as Chairman Dr. Renato Mendonça and Co-chairman Dr. Carlo Barlotozzi.
In 2013, the SPR will have the honor to host the 14th World Congress of the World Federation for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology - WFUMB 2013 and the XVI Congress of the Latin American Federation for Ultrasound - FLAUS 2013.
